Under the Sea Horse ~ Painting

This was just meant to be, how lucky was I that I took notice from the universe and ended up at this fabulous workshop.
I first booked in for the Donald James Waters workshop but got that busy that I forgot to get in and pay my deposit.
Anyway as luck would have it I recieved another email to say that they were running the class on the Sunday as well and did I still want a spot.
I took that as a sign from the universe that I was meant to be at this workshop. That and that he has the same name as my hubbie, Donald James LOL.
And Boy am I so glad I did!!!!

It was a similar concept to what I learnt from Tracey Verdugo but this was so much more again!
I loved the new techniques we got out of this workshop and I just loved Don’s approach and enthusiasm for his paintings.
It was so inspiring. I don’t think you could wipe the smile off my face all day!
Be sure to like Don’s facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DonaldJamesWaters
And if you ever get the chance to do one of his classes make sure you don’t miss out on an amazing opportunity

I loved the fact that I had no idea where the layers were going, as I hadn’t heard or saw Don’s work for the workshop.
It was fun to follow his process with no end goal in mind.

This is my final piece from this workshop, really happy with it. I think I can see a whole lot of sea themed paintings to follow.  Love it! So much fun x

I forgot to take photos of the first couple of layers with just the doodling.
This is one is after the first few layers of colours.

More doodling and more colour layers.

It took awhile to see something jump out in all those colours.
Then out popped this cute little sea horse 🙂

Then Ta Da!!! After a few more finishing touches and sea friends it is finished.
And he already has a home, mum claimed him as he looked perfect on the wall at the beach house.

There were the paintings Don Created in the workshops over the 2 days. After I had completed all my doodling and bright colours I couldn’t see a scenery in my painting.  I have been thinking of doing some seahorse paintings and I love how my painting morphed into a sea horse seemingly all on its own.

This was the painting he created in our workshop on the Sunday.

This was the one he created in Saturdays class.

Make sure you check out Don’s Facebook page to see more of his amazing work.

I have been working on a few more pieces too, just need to find some time to get some photos!
